My very first business was called Pure Chance. It was a converted tobacco shop and I was 21 years old. I decided to offer something my mom had taught me from a young age and that not very many people in North America knew about, the guidance of the I Ching, a text that has been around for 2500 years. The business didn't last long but I learned some important lessons.
Lessons I learned:
1. When you know in your gut that you're doing the right thing, just do it.
2. If you find yourself in the same kind of undesirable situations over and over again, maybe it's time to examine the pattern.
3. Just because we appear to be separate from natural cycles, it doesn't mean that we are. Our observation and understanding of nature show that we are an intrinsic part of our environment. There is a time to plant and there is a time to harvest.
4. Nobody can answer "yes" or "no" for you because you have free will. But, it is invaluable to have a guide for right action in any situation.
So, this I (Eee) Ching thing.. how does it work?
First, you need a specific question and this can be done with assistance if you're willing to share your thoughts about any decision you're contemplating. This is the most important part of any reading and is not something to be rushed.
What kind of method do you use to get an answer?
Yarrow stalks or coins are used and result in either yin or yang lines. Done 6 times and it turns into a hexagram. There are 64 hexagrams and each can have many different results, resulting in more than 4000 specific answers.
Why is this valuable? Why should I care?
How many times have you said to yourself, "I wish I knew then what I know now." How many times have you made a decision and later wished you had paused and contemplated before acting? How many times have you made a decision in isolation not realizing that you could've consulted someone for advice, insight or feedback?
30 years later, I am once again offering consultations using the hexagrams of the Book of Changes. After all, life is more than Pure Chance :-) Book a time to open the door for conscious change.
